Muskox

General Description: arctic mammal with long shaggy hair and large brown horns

Habitat: northern Alaska, Canada and Greenland

Behavior: muskoxen are social and live in herds, usually of around 10–20 animals; they have good sight and hearing

Diet: grasses, sedges, forbs, and woody plants

Reproduction: gestation period is 8-9 months, one calf is born

Interesting Facts: when they are threatened by wolves, muskoxen will form a circle around their young to protect them
